Whether it be through drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, or computer art artists have always tried to create the illusion of life and movement in their works. The lifeblood of art is the act of creation. Walt Disney put it best when he said, "Animation can explain whatever the mind can conceive." The word 'animation' is derived from anima, the Latin word for soul or spirit. The verb 'to animate' literally means 'to give life to’. The animation arts combine the movement of life and the passage of time to create an illusion that can have extraordinary impact. This introductory course deals with using animation to bring art to life through movement and the passage of time. Animation can bridge traditional art, computer art and performance art that tells a story. This class will require students to learn traditional art techniques and computer technology. Students will also study movement, linear perspective, graphic design, art history, visual literacy and the principles and elements of art in composition.    5Fine Arts9th;#10th;#11th;#12th;#1 SemesterArtN/ANo35.0000000000000http://contenthub.bvsd.org/curriculum/1920%20Course%20Catalog/Art%20of%20Animation.docx
